This study focuses on the global export success cases of Korean defense companies—such as the K9 self-propelled howitzer, K2 main battle tank, and FA-50 fighter jet—to analyze the characteristics and success factors of Korean-management strategies. Based on this analysis, the study aims to develop a Korean-style global strategic model. Utilizing theoretical frameworks such as the Resource-Based View (RBV), entrepreneurial alertness, neo-institutionalism, and Blue Ocean Strategy, the research explores how defense firms have transitioned from a domestic focus to achieving global competitiveness. Annual case studies will include Hanwha Aerospace (K9), Hyundai Rotem (K2), and Korea Aerospace Industries (FA-50/K21), with qualitative methodologies employed to identify key success factors such as government-military-industry collaboration, user club operations, and localization strategies. The study will empirically demonstrate how institutional support from the government and the strategic role of the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) have enhanced export competitiveness. Beyond the defense industry, this research provides valuable insights applicable to civilian strategic industries like semiconductors. Ultimately, the study seeks to produce three English-language case studies in the ECCH/HBS style and propose a Korean defense export strategy model and a global growth and innovation framework for mid-sized firms, offering both practical and theoretical contributions.
